Teaching and Choreography
Wendy Jones (MA) is a choreographer and dance educator in San Francisco, California, who has the privilege of combining these two passions into a profession.
As director of dance at Lowell High School in San Francisco, she has developed and teaches a four-tiered program including the Lowell Dance Company that performs throughout the bay area.
Outside of school, her personal company is Jones Dance, which has featured post-university Lowell alumni in performances at San Francisco venues. Her work has been presented at the Vision Series Dance Festival, American River College, Laney College, Dance Mission, and Shawl Anderson Dance Center.
We're learning to adapt in these unusual times. I'm sharing lessons to help you keep dancing at home while "social distancing" is in effect.
I make work to tell the story of human emotions and the connections we have with the world. I make dances to understand life challenges and celebrations. I am curious about how movement can collide with real life experiences, allowing us to understand them in a deeper way. The work usually begins with a question or experience, then once explored and studied with the dancers, we find the deeper and authentic explanations to the initial query.
